Garage Sale Finds - May 2018

During the warmer months, several of us here at Gaming With Swag love to hit up the Garage Sale circuit. Mainly to better our children's lives with cheap clothing, toys, and furniture to save our wallets by purchasing used goods. But we also tend to find a bit of gaming goodness now and then. Although with the dawn of smart phones and Ebay, it has gotten harder and harder to find awesome stuff, sometimes gems will appear in rare instances.

Some gaming related items found in early May 2018 at various garage sales.

Just to give you an idea of what we are talking about, the above lot worked out to $18 total. Here is the breakdown:

  • PlayStation 2 Official Dual Shock controllers - $2 each
  • Mortal Kombat Deception PS2 - $3
  • Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2 PS2 - $3
  • Castlevania: Lament of Innocence PS2 - $3
  • Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas PS2 - $3
  • Tony Hawk's ProSkater 4 PS2 - $2
  • Wreck-It-Ralph action figure - $1

Everything shown is in excellent condition. I won't pick anything up any more that even looks questionable, after being burned too many times on games that were unplayable due to too many scratches, or systems that have seen better days. I also passed up several gaming items like this that were either not worth it to me or just didn't seem like that good of a deal. Coming up with some of this stuff is awesome, but the price to pay is waking up early on a Saturday. If you aren't out there around 8am, be prepared to come home empty handed. And even then, sometimes there just isn't anything out there or someone else beats you to it.

Some other board gaming-related finds were two board games by Dean and Brad (not pictured.) But they acquired 7-Wonders and Betrayal at House on the Hill both brand new for only a few dollars each! We saw a bunch of other board games, mostly kids stuff or games with licensed properties from the early 2000s, but most were in poor shape or missing pieces. Needless to say, it pays to wake up early on your day off and scout the sales. Expect future posts throughout the yard sale season with more finds from us!
