Saturday at Dreamation, a literal mixed bag (of dice)
I didn't know what exactly to expect from Dreamation, so my expectations were to shed some money on vendors, meet some developers, and sample some board games. We showed up and the walls were lined with sign up sheets for hosted table games for various time slots throughout the day. We ignored them and moved on to check out the vendors.
The vendor area was not particularly large, and we had seen it all in short order. I bought all the Dice Masters boosters that existed (I got two rares, not too bad) and my first Role Playing set of dice just in case that came up and then we moved to check out the rest of the activities. The hotel is sprawling, so we got to avoid the experience/smell of everyone jammed in one room. Every communal room was full of some sort of activity from Larping, Role Playing, video games, and board games including some impressive giant Warhammer sets.
After looking around though we found that there really wasn't a free play area and those game sign ups we ignored were the required path to gaming and we missed out on a lot of slots in our ignorance. So we quickly signed up for a few things and to burn time until our game times came up we watched John Wick 2 (Recommended). Upon our return we made some friends and played some new games, which we then needed to buy. We are still here for another day including a game auction and then throughout this week we will highlight some of our favorite games, developers, and other people we stumbled upon. Until then Game On!
