I love my local Comic Book Shop. It's one of my favorite places to visit. and instantly relieves stress as soon as I walk through the door. It gives me flashbacks to a simpler time in life when I didn't have to worry about bills, being at work on time, or finding time to squeeze in your hobbies. I am also excited to share with my two boys this magical store and hope that one day they will be reading comics like their dad did (and still does). Comic Books are important to me, because as a kid I was never big into reading books. However comics and magazines were a different story. I could sit in my room for days reading about super heroes and video games. And regardless of what reading snobs will tell you, it's still reading. It helped me understand the meaning of big words I didn't know (We had to use this big book called a dictionary back then. Get off my lawn.) and provided me additional skills for reading comprehension.  I try not to miss a Free Comic Book day, as our Comic Book Shop not only gives away these awesome comics, but makes it a family-friendly event.  Coupled with a store-wide sale, cosplay, external vendors, and more, the store invites you to bring your children into a hobby that was once reserved only for hardcore pulp collectors. This Saturday, make sure you check out your local comic store and pick up some of these freebies! There are ton of video game related comics too, like Street Fighter V, Pokemon, Assassin's Creed, and Sonic the Hedgehog. Check out some images of the ones I plan on picking up, and a video explaining the event below. What will you be acquiring this Saturday?

Free Comic Book Day is the first Saturday in May. It's an International Event that celebrates comic books and the local comic shops that provide them to their communities. Visit a participating comic shop on May 4th, 2013 for your FREE COMICS!
