Throwback Thursday - Gorillas for PC

Dancing Gorillas!

I remember when a friend told me that there were secret games loaded on my IBM computer if I went into the MS-Dos screen and knew the name of the game (See also Donkey and Nibbles).  These QBasic games helped fill in the gaps between game releases that I would buy (I loved me some Wolfenstein 3-D), or when I got tired of other free games like Minesweeper and Ski Free.  Gorillas is a simple game consisting of two Gorillas standing in a city scape hurling explosive bananas at one another.  It is essentially an artillery game were you choose the angle and the velocity of the banana to traverse the space and avoid the buildings between you and your opponent.  If you take too many turns trying to figure out the right combination you may eat a banana in the face yourself.

Happy Sun doesn't care about Gorilla Warfare

For a twist these Gorillas who possess explosive bananas can also alter the power of gravity on the planet to aid in his or her destructive tosses.  As stupid as the game concept can be, I found later my experience playing this game was very helpful in my high school physics classes.  And I find I am very wary of Gorillas holding bananas at the zoo, just waiting to skyhook a banana out of their enclosure into the crowd.
