It all started way back in 1997, when Silicon Knights published Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain for the PlayStation and PC. Followed up by Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver and other sequels, it seemed like the Legacy of Kain series was doing pretty well. However, since the release of Legacy of Kain: Defiance in 2003, it has been more than a decade since we have seen Raziel or Kain in action. However, in a recent interview with Michael Brinker there are talks of a 50/50 chance that another Legacy of Kain game might surface. There was a canceled Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun game that was supposed to be out for 360/PS3, but it never saw the light of day. It's a shame, too because the game looked decent, and near complete:
I think it's about time that we see a resurgence of this series, I always felt that it could use at least another Soul Reaver entry. A lot has changed since 2003, and a Gothic-themed action / puzzler sounds pretty good right about now. Since the development team "really wants to make that game", I think there is a good chance we may see something eventually get released. I also would not mind seeing a remastered collection for purchase, as that is something I would also consider purchasing. For now, you can get four of the Legacy of Kain games in a Steam bundle at a low price. (This bundle frequently goes on sale for cheaper as well.) I don't think Legacy of Kain has worn out its welcome yet, and I hope to be able to play another entry in the series in the near future.
